CHANGE; Just a click away!

The advent of the internet has no doubt brought significant changes and development to the world as we know it. Particularly, It has been a veritable tool for unleashing the potential of women from around the world and has been used to engender social action and positive social change.

Personally I have come to appreciate the power of Web 2.0 and how it can help get my voice and that of other women heard. It makes it possible for a whole community of women to keep in touch and connect across the miles and borders. It helps us feel each other’s pains and gains, it makes it possible for us to urge each other on and soothe each other’s fears. It stretches the sphere of influence and puts our issue out there to the world. The web has empowered women to access information, education and services. There is doubt I am excited about this tool. The one which could be our beaming hope to getting to our destination. Our light at the end of the tunnel.

I started my blog a couple of months agoand , I have experienced how Web 2.0 in a brand new way. I now have people from all continents of the world view my posts and benefit from everything I have put up. Additionally, my Journal (blog) on Pulsewire has attracted numerous guests. I have had women from parts of the world I just read about in books, read my post and share their views. The impact and power of Web 2.0 can not be quantified as it has made it possible for me to join an online community of women who are committed to making a difference and making the world a better place for themselves and the generations after them. Now power lies in our fingertips as citizen journalists to do the needful and make a change.

I salute the courage of great women who started with just an idea on how to make a change and have ended up leading a revolution for a just cause. I salute women who have braved it all to bring to light issues that many suffer in silence from. I appreciate this opportunity to be in the league of such great and courageous minds who would stop at nothing to make a difference. This day I make up my mind to be a voice for the next generation. To raise my voice against all odds and speak for the change we all desire. To take full advantage of Web2.0 be it by promoting a serious cause as it affects my community or saying hello to someone millions of miles away just to make such person smile. I’m glad about Web 2.0 because now change is just a click away!
