Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I have spent many years working both on staff and in a freelance capacity as a writer/editor and a communications, marketing, public relations consultant for numerous magazines, publishers, websites, and nonprofit organizations. I spent more than eight years working as a Communications Manager at The MacDowell Colony, a nonprofit artist residency program that provides time in secluded artist studios to writers, composers, visual artists, filmmakers, architects, playwrights, and interdisciplinary artists from around the world. I am passionate about the arts as a form of expression; in particular, I have a strong interest in independent filmmaking and screenwriting. I have twice been a Sundance Screenwriting Lab semi-finalist with my first screenplay, Sugar Bush, which I brought to the Independent Producer’s Conference at the Sundance Institute in 2006. In 2009 and 2013, I was awarded writing residencies at Hedgebrook to further develop this work-in-progress. In 2005, I associate produced The Sensation of Sight, an independent film starring (and produced by) Academy Award-nominated actor David Strathairn, which was released in theaters in 2008.
