His efforts enhance disadvantage community access to safe drinking water and sanitation, English language micro scholarships, livelihood training opportunities and community based climate change mitigation and adaptation projects.
Prior to founding GRACE Association Pakistan in 2007, I served 14 years working for change in his village Kwardu in Skardu Gilgit-Baltisstan where villagers believed educating a girl child was sinful. Through voluntarism, social mobilization, rights based advocacy, building partnerships and networking for education and development he succeeded in changing attitudes of the villagers from a traditionally gender biased behavior to enlightened, moderate and gender sensitive behaviors.
As a fellow and guest scholar at the Brookings Institution in Washington DC I published his research paper entitled “Fostering Inclusive Education in Pakistan: Access and Quality for All Children through Community-School Networks (CSN)”. The CSN model is becoming a catalyst to address factors that prevent girls and children with disabilities from accessing their fundamental right to education. Additionally he is the managing editor of a biannual newsletter “Voice of Grassroots” published by his nonprofit.
I am affected by polio from early age and uses wheelchair for mobility. I hold a B.A. in civics and economics from the University of Punjab. I also hold Certificates in Educational Leadership and Management from the Aga Khan University and in Development Planning and Management from IUCN-Northern Areas Conservation Strategy Support Program. Empower and improve the quality of life of the marginalized and vulnerable communities through the power of education for all Poverty and ignorance in communities serving Grassroots community organization, inclusive education and behavioral change communication.
