Hi World Pulse community! I am the International Outreach Coordinator for the Independent Television Service (ITVS), based in San Francisco, CA. ITVS brings independently-produced, high-quality documentaries and new media programs to public broadcast for local, national and international audiences. ITVS was formed by historic mandate of Congress in 1991 to champion independently produced programs that take creative risks, spark public dialogue and serve underserved audiences.
ITVS Community is part of our outreach program at ITVS that I hope the World Pulse community can tap into and benefit from.
The link below leads you to details on our Community Classroom program, which builds cultural understanding, sparks discussion and fosters global citizenship through the power of documentary film. Available for FREE to educators and non-profit organizations, the video modules and standards-based lesson plans feature culturally significant topics that are a crucial part of education in today’s increasingly globalized world.
Women's Empowerment Resources: ITVS Community Classroom recently launched our Women's Empowerment resources, which include eight short form video modules that explore stories of women's leadership and empowerment in Bolivia, Egypt, Israel and Kenya. Like all of our Classroom resources, these video modules are accompanied by standards-based lesson plans and activities that are fantastic tools for educators as well as community organizations and NGOs working on international development, education, women's empowerment and human rights. http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/classroom/
ITVS Community also produces monthly free film screening event through our Community Cinema program, which organizes film screenings in over 50 cities each month throughout the US. Please join us for an upcoming screening! http://communitycinema.org/
