MOUNT KENYA HEKIMA SCHOOLS

My school is born out of a passion. A passion to give children, and especially less privileged who most of the times do not get the opportunity to get quality education. Our academic system is basically based on performance and the good performance is pegged on having qualified teachers, adequate teaching aids and good reading environment. This is not usually available to children from poor families and many children miss on the opportunity to further education as well as those from well to do families.

Our school, Mount Kenya Hekima School is located in an area called Gikuni in Kiambu County and most of the people there are small scale farmers who are largely illiterate. Every morning from as early as 8.00am I meet young and old men staggering on the road drunk. These are the models these children have. This poses a challenge to the education of their children because they do not give education much importance. I have seen many young pregnant girls and many have dropped out of school to work in the small farms and take care of their children. We have very bright children in our school who need education to at least be able to live a better life than their parents. These bright children could use sponsors who can cater for their school fees and other school related expenses and I am desperately looking for individuals and organizations that can sponsor their education. We need to save the young girls who are getting married early to young and old men who are basically alcohol and drug users.

I want to be the much needed change agent in Gikuni area, I want to give the young girls hope and assist them to secure education opportunities for a better future. Help me achieve my goal. We partnered with Wandia Nyaga Education Fund and have dubbed the sponsorship program \"Each one, teach one\". Please each one of you, reach one, and teach one...

Thanks
