Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
My name is Lara, History Student and Brazilian. I'm from Fortaleza, the capital of the state of Ceará and a very beautiful city with an amazing culture and very beautiful beaches. Despite of the violence and the terrible social inequality, Fortaleza is a fascineting city and full of incredible and energetic people. Since 2004 I live in Sobral, a medium city of the interior of Ceará. Sobral is a very hot city, but is full of energy and history. Just one example, is that Sobral is the city where the Theory of Relativity was proved (Google doesn't make me lie).
My life was always hard. I was raised only by my mother. She didn't have an opportunity to study and succed academicaly, but she never made me give up of my education and was the person who motivated me the most to pursue a good education.
Because of my life background, I was always interested in youth and women empowerment, and I know how important they are. I believe that education is the key to solve all the inequality around the world. Education is the base to everything good that happens in our social and professional life. And I don't mean only scholar education, but also social, ecological and familiar education.
Since I was in High School I was part of social projects, but just like millions of young Brazilian, we couldn't find partnerships and people who really believed in our projects. Now I'm re-starting a project about youth empowering youth in order to guide them to pursue their own social/voluteering projects.
I was chosen to represent Brazil on the G(irls)20 Summit 2013 in Moscow, Russia. This Summit was very enlightening to me in many ways. It gave me confidence, knowlegde and guidance to keep working in my country.
I know that I still have to face many challenges and improve myself in many ways to always keep working and helping to empower young people and women in Brazil and perhaps around the world!

Kisses from Brazil.
