In its second year, the Global Development and Humanitarian Aid Training Program offered at La Roche College in Pittsburgh, PA is a new, unique, low cost program designed around the current competency requirements and standards in humanitarian aid work. The Global Development and Humanitarian Aid Training Program is currently being offered in three residential versions:

1.      A one week, introductory program offered from June 1-5, 2015, focusing on applied skills and competencies in Humanitarian Aid.  This program is offered in partnership with RedR, a well-known UK humanitarian aid training agency: http://www.redr.org.uk/  In addition to the RedR training, our program includes special evening programs on current issues, history, and specialty areas related to Humanitarian Aid.  Attendees will emerge with a certificate in Essentials in Humanitarian Practice provided by RedR.

2.      An extended, 2 week program offered from June 1-12, 2015, that includes both the RedR training and a week of more in-depth training offered by La Roche College faculty, advisory board members and specialists in the field.  Areas covered include program management, human rights, specialty areas, ethics and career options.  There will also be movie forums, guest lectures, team activities and visits to humanitarian aid organizations in Pittsburgh are included in this extended version of training.  Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be awarded both a Certificate from RedR in Essentials in Humanitarian Practice and a Certificate in Global Development and Humanitarian Aid from La Roche College.

3.      A unique and flexible program offered in collaboration with Humanitarian U (an online training course) - the majority of which is to be completed prior to arrival - and then the one week (June 8-12) of in-depth training offered by offered by La Roche College faculty, advisory board members and specialists in the field - areas covered include program management, human rights, specialty areas, ethics and career options.  Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate from McGill University and a Certificate in Global Development and Humanitarian Aid from La Roche College.
