A space to be, I recommend

I believe in making a difference in the lives of people not only in my country of origin but in other parts of the world. That said my life vision is to work with emotionally and physically challenged people in a total inclusion program. This will enable me to experience other cultures/diversity and by opening myself to other cultures, I will be able to better understand and accept other ways of living and hence working towards becoming a global citizen.

My vision for my community is primordial, from what I see and live everyday, given the fact that I come from a region where misery is order of the day; my focus is on the youths especially the vulnerable. Why the youths? Because they will be the representatives of our world of tomorrow. It is important to highlight some of the problems that brings about the vision I have for my community. It is worth noting that in my country Cameroon; three out of five of every unemployed Cameroonian citizen is a youth. This has left the unemployed youths and some at-risk children with no choice than dash into malpractices and fitting themselves in one of the following criminal categories –internet scamming, arm robbery, street children, drug addicts, to name but these. Many Cameroonian youths have simply lived and retired in unemployment with all their acquired degrees. The situation of young women and girls is unspeakable as many of the unemployed young women have indulged into prostitution with untold results like HIV/AIDS and other related diseases. Other girls have become victims of trafficking in the quest for greener pastures in foreign lands. It is in the light of the above mentioned factors that I see the need of collaborating with other partners to address these issues.

I see a world where children and youths will live with hope and unlimited opportunities for themselves and future generations. For this vision to be fully attained, the youths need to be empowered so that they be able to realize their full potential and build peace within themselves and their communities and the world at large.

It is a privilege for me to be a Voices of Our Correspondent. Pulse wire is a space where one can find raw materials and finished products, if I may put it this way. It is now left for each member to make use of either the raw material or the finished product available for free. What then is my motivation? Since my focus is on young women and girls especially the vulnerable, I am excited to be a Voices of Our Correspondent in order to collaborate with some experts to increased commitment and investment in youth in my community, increased youth participation and partnerships, and increased intercultural understanding among youth. My being part of the Voices of Our Correspondent will enable the young women who do not have access to the media to still speak right from the interior where they live, because I stand as an ambassador of pulse wire, a channel that will go closer to the young women, listen to their stories and report them to pulse wire in time come. In that way their voices will still be heard after all.

I must say here that I have gathered a lot being part of this women’s empowerment team. This space provided by world pulse, will be of immense help to achieve my goals. Since my personal vision is to become a global citizen, for this one month that I am connected to pulse wire I have read a lot of articles, stories and projects, and I should say here that I am aware of bits of different cultures and psychologically I can fit myself properly in global issues. Pulse wire will help if I do many publications related to my vision on the journal, since it is a space where people come searching for the needy, someone will surely react in advice or give a link that can assist. Already I have got some links proposed by some pulse wire members.
