Digital Action Campaign Narrative

Story
Indigenous Women: Changemakers!
Indigenous peoples make up one third of the world poorest, most of us are uneducated, unemployed, discriminated and marginalized. Indigenous women in Asia are estimated to be around 130 million. However, “indigenous women have less access to education; less access to livelihoodopportunities; less access to health care; less rights when inheriting property and lessemployment opportunities than our male and mainstream counterparts.”[1]
In the Philippines, the same situation holds true. The indigenous peoples are among the poorest and most marginalized sectors of society. Social provision in indigenous territories is far below that of the rest of the country.[2]
This narrative can be changed. You can do something.
You can make this change possible by supporting our campaign and help us raise funds to make it possible for indigenous women to be changemakers.
My Digital Action Campaign
Every woman of any tribe or culture has the ability and potential to change our world for the better. So this campaign is focused on raising awareness about indigenous peoples issues particularly the women and in creating opportunities for them to be empowered and become changemakers.
So we are launching this campaign to raise funds for us to be able to implement the “Indigenous Women: Changemakers!” Project.
By the end of the project, we hope to achieve the following:
- Indigenous women have access to alternative education and life skills training
- Enhanced the leadership capacity and sense of identity indigenous women and create awareness among the general public about indigenous peoples and issues
- Built the capacity of indigenous women in social enterprise
- Established and functional social enterprise activities implemented by indigenous women
- Enhanced management skills of Hagiyo leaders to meet the needs of the organization
- Built partners and network with other organizations
- Indigenous women are educated, empowered and are raising their voices to be heard not only in their community but globally
I will be providing updates through World Pulse’s digital action campaign site and my social media accounts including that of Hagiyo’s account and website: hagiyo.org
Our hashtags will be #4indigenouswomen #4indigenouspeoples as well as #WeAreIndigenous
