3rd of a five-part series



Later at the cemetery, Maria stayed far from her siblings and cousins, near the open grave. From where she stood, she saw her wailing mother asthe latterand her siblings took a last look at their mother. Soon the coffin was lowered and her cousins threw some flowers and handfuls of soil into the pit. As her cousins stood at the edge of thepit curiously watching as the pit was covered with more soil, Maria stepped back. How can my lola breathe inside the box? She asked silently.
