World Pulse Kenya, are you listening????

About a month ago I promised to bounce back. This is after a lot of reflection and what I can only call as self-inspection. I am one who has the habit of doing two things whenever I join a group. I either try as much as I can to effect change. Or I shut up and leave the group. As my way of making a come back I want to be as blunt as possible.

I joined World Pulse as a result of a search I was making on gay rights. I checked the website and discovered it is made up of 99.99% women. Even as I joined I kept on asking myself how I - a man - will fit into a world where the sexes want to work together in charting the course for a better world.

I joined - against what my common sense dictated. The World Pulse meeting in Nairobi came and went leaving a lingering doubt in my mind about whether I fitted in. I always believe - I don't know whether I am being silly or unrealistic - that there can be no better world for women if and when they exclude men. Women have to involve men, especially the ones who are willing, in the affairs of transforming the world for a better world. Now the thing is: is there a way we can involve both sexes in this worthy cause. I think the way forward would be having a meeting - forum - where members can meet and discuss about forging ahead as a team.

I have started an official World Pulse for children where I urge them to take care of others by understanding their world, issues and challenges. The main aim is to forge ahead as a team. I am having an event to this effect in the second week of December centred on reading. Little by little and step by step we will achieve our goal which is understanding one another and what better way to start it in children. I hope this can be taken up as a way forward for World Pulse.
