I grew up around my hometown newspaper and gleaned from my father a love of people, community and narrative journalism. That foundation fuels me today as I fuse my background in communications with my passion for social justice and community activism.
As a young woman, I ventured to Central Mexico and interned at Mississippi's only alternative weekly newspaper. The Southern writer I lived with taught me a life philosophy called “Barefootin'." It means releasing your fears and getting your feet muddy –– being immersed in something deeper than yourself.
Activism, adventures and events make me tick, whether I'm writing about a civic group collecting bras for survivors of sex trafficking, visiting my sister in Cape Town, South Africa, or organizing a book club for young women social entrepreneurs.
I am thrilled to join the World Pulse staff as Volunteer Coordinator this spring. I love meeting new people and building community. Let's connect and share our stories!
