Shakey First Steps on PulseWire

Self-doubt. How do you escape it? I feel like it was planted in me as a girl and reinforced as I grew into a woman. When I first wrote my "about me" the white box seemed so daunting! What do I want others to know about me? Could I reveal too much? And if I wrote too little was I hiding who I am? It took me several attempts to dig into my heart and present myself to you.

Then it was time to write a journal entry...even scarier. What do I have to share? Who cares what I think? Girls' and women's thoughts, knowledge and experiences have been so devalued in my family, my community, my education, and my culture that I've really had to fight for space and have the courage to value my own voice. Yesterday, it was reassuring to hear about the challenges a few other members of PulseWire faced with introducing themselves and starting conversations with our community. Thank you Wendy, Lindsay, Jenna, and Debra! You all are brave, caring, and insightful women. I can't wait to read more of your posts and learn more from you!
