International Day of the Girl Child - 11/10/18

The girl child! the girl child!

I am a girl, I am a girl,

I can do anything, I can be anything

Oh how beautiful I am, oh how i am powerful,

I need education society and not marriage,

I need protection my dear love ones not pampering

Above all I need security and love,

I do not need your sympathy, I need you to feel my pain, give me empathy.

As a girl child, I am vulnerable but can be strong

I change the world with my words of love

I need your support not mockery,

Make me strong and powerful,

I am meek and intelligent, teach me tenderness, teach me love,

I need to be respected not abuse, I need care and attention as the girl child.

I am a girl child, I do not want a drop out from school,

I do not want early marriage,

I do not want abductions,

I do not want pity!

I want to be love, I want to be respected, I want to be protected, and I want security.

This makes me the girl child!

The message in the poem is wonderful ,but no one has given us women anything till we have stood up for ourselves
I have a daughter ,and I always had to fight for very single wish or her to be met.Its time for all.of us to.unite and stand together ,to change the world .

    Hi sister,
Thanks very much and happy girl child day especially to your girl. Yes its true all girl child have to stand up for what is best for her and objects what society gives her that she do not like

Its all up to us, we have a choice and it must be now.
I am glad you like the lyrics of my poem

    Hi :-),
Was wondering how old is your daughter?

I hope as a determined mother you will be able to direct her path the best way to walk/ live. Its not easy in this our world raising teenagers due to peer influence especially when they are at schools and with their peers :-(

    I wish you the best.
    Kind regards

    Dear Lisbeth,

Good one now you know. I wish as a young girl I had access to all such lol. But tbt, if we don't nurture our young girls today, what are setting them up to or expecting them to become tomorrow?

Let's keep talking, many are listening. Let's keep writing, many are reading.

    Hugs,

    Marie

    Dear Liz,

A beautiful poem, I would say an ode to the girl child.
    She's special yet, despised
Unless she fights for herself and generations unborn.
Thank you for talking about the girl child.
    Powerful.
    Love,
    Arrey

    Hi Arrey,
Thank you and sure who will fight for the girl child? We ourselves can fight the fine battle
May we pray for wisdom to wage this war but doing so respectively and with humility

    Regards
    Lisbeth
