Introducing myself and my journal: Social media for social change

About Me:
I am a communications professional, writer, social media marketing strategist, and blogger. For close to five years I've run my own business, Go Small or Go Home, in Vancouver, British Columbia. I've collaborated with environmental groups, First Nations groups and others working for positive change in their communities. I believe in the power of women to change their lives, the lives of their families, and their communities for the better. I believe that a small group of empowered women can create enormous strides, and that, sometimes it takes one person with a big dream to make change happen. Although I don't live in the Majority World, and I do have access here in Canada to education, clean drinking water and food, I am aware that I am very fortunate. I therefore wish to work with other women who struggle with the basics and whose stories have yet to be heard. As a writer, I am pulled by people's stories and believe they can carry great weight and be a force for change. Since the beginning of time, we have told each other stories of hope in times of great flux and uncertainty. I believe storytelling is one of our most powerful tools and that we need to trust our stories and those of our grandmothers in order to face the future.
