Non-profit Org uses music to build bridges

I have always love the idea of using music and the arts to bridge cultures and bring people together. I've been following the work of Playing for Change ever since they released their first compilation - http://www.youtube.com/user/PlayingForChange. I just learned about a very interesting non-profit called Genesis at the Crossroads - http://www.gatc.org - that has created a unique music ensemble that includes musicians from countries in conflict: Iran, Afghanistan, Cuba, Morocco and the US. Together, they create new art while exploring both the sacred and mystical traditions in Arab and Jewish music, poetic influences, and ethnic African Sufi, Gnaoua and Rai music, infused with the sub-Saharan roots of blues and jazz, spiced with Afro-Caribbean and South-American rhythms. Five of the nine musicians are Grammy Awardees and/or Nominees.

The more people we have involved in these kinds of initiatives, the more joy and peace we bring to the planet! Maybe some of you will be inspired to do something similar where you live!
