Introducing myself and my journal: New chilean voices

About Me: Hello everyone,

I'm Loreto Navarrete, a Chilean anthropologist who believes that the greatest challenges of my country today, are related to the improvement of our democracy and the exercise of rights. In particular, the rights of women, youths and migrants.

I work in an NGO called IDEAS Foundation and in the next weeks i'll start to coordinate a new program dedicated to support and strengthen young women's organizations. I'll tell you about that in my next post.

Besides that, I can tell you that I'm 30 (yes, it happened this year... ) and I'm a huge music lover. Also, I really enjoy talking about politics, history, and culture. I hope I can tell you all later about the political changes around here in the last year.

So, I'll be writing soon about this new proyect and some ideas that I have for the empowerment of young women here in Chile. See ya!

My Passions: Working in the fields that I love: Democracy, Human Rights, Citizen Participation

My Challenges: To actively contribute to build a better country, more just and with more opportunities for women and men

My Vision for the Future: I see a future in which young voices are listened to improve the public policies, to improve the quality of life, to improve democracy

My Areas of Expertise: Gender Studies, Youth Studies, Public Policies, Chilean History and Politics

    Hola Loreto,

I look forward to hearing more about you, your experiences, and your new program. Welcome to our global community of grassroots women leaders and supporters of women's initiatives.

Chile has a special place in my heart - as it was there that I firmly felt myself grasping my own dreams. Such a place like Chile allowed me to learn so much about strength, beauty, resilience and truth.

We don't yet have many women in our community from South America, especially Chile, so you are a bright light into issues from this region and we look to you to share the issues and voices of women around you.

    Un abrazo, Jade

    Dear Jade,

It's has been a really good thing to find PulseWire and Program Voices of our Future! I'm very excited about the network and initiatives that we can build from this experience. As I really enjoy writing and talking about chilean and international politics, democracies, participation, rights, and women leadership, my goal is to post at least every week.

I'm intrigued about your experience in Chile, Can you tell me more about it? It is always interesting to hear about your country, from the perspective of a person from another country, you can always learn something about your own culture!

About increasing the participation of other young women from South America and Chile, don't worry I'll promote the Program with my contacts around here and also in Facebook and Twitter, I'm sure there will be more women interested in joining Voices of our Future.

    A big hug,
