My community resources

Here are some of my resources that I had previously under-estimated but now appreciate as a result of this training.

1. My vision and dream for a better world for all through access to education. This resource is the reason I get out of bed every morning and do this work. My strong conviction that I can make a difference to support even just one person to make a difference and we can all make a difference. I strongly and passionately believe in access to education and how this can improves lives and community well-being.

2. My partner and family - This is my biggest support system. My partner is my sounding board and encourages me to push on everyday no matter the circumstances. My sister, or 'the mother of my children' as I call her, is my biggest advocate and has sacrificed so much of her time, her own career and education to help me be where I am and for me to do what I am doing now. She and all the women in my life are constant inspirations for me to continue advocating and supporting access to education in Zambia for all, especially for marginalised girls in rural areas.

3. Professional experience - I have been privileged to study the field I am working in. In addition, I have had the opportunity to travel around Africa and learn first hand some of the challenges that exist in accessing education especially for girls. This resource helps me empathise with the different contexts in which I work. Furthermore, I have 10 years experience in public speaking and mentoring, I resources I should utilise more of in my work.

4. My personal story - My personal story is part of my experience and is a resource that I share to explain the work I do. My story has been influenced by a number of events and various people who have been part of my life. It has shaped some of the decisions I have made in my career and telling it helps draw perspective in my work. My story highlights my value system and core strength in supporting marginalised girls in Zambia.
