Des morts, des blessés et des déplacements de la population

Dans la nuit du vendredi 06 au samedi 07 juin 2014, les populations de la localité de Mutarule, groupement Luberizi dans la Chefferie de la Plaine de la Ruzizi, territoire d’Uvira en province du Sud-Kivu ont été victimes d’un nouveau massacre par des hommes armés. Le dénombrement provisoire de ce samedi à 8 heures faisait état de 33 personnes tuées dont un militaire ainsi que 29 blessés. Parmi les morts, on compte 4 filles dont une de moins d’un mois, 4 garçons, 17 femmes et 8 hommes. Au nombre des blessés se trouvent 23 femmes. La plupart des victimes ont été brûlées, abattues ou blessées dans leurs domiciles, dans l’Eglise locale de la 8ème Communauté des Eglises de Pentecôte en Afrique Centrale (CEPAC) ou lorsqu’elles voulaient fuir pour se mettre à l’abri de l’attaque.

Les blessés, acheminés dans un premier temps par leurs proches et autres bons samaritains à l’Hôpital Général de Référence de Sange et au Centre hospitalier de Sange, ont, par la suite, été conduits à Uvira par le Comité International de la Croix Rouge (CICR) pour des soins appropriés à l’Hôpital Général de Référence local. Les 10 cas plus graves ont été transférés à l’Hôpital Général Provincial de Référence de Bukavu. Cet organisme humanitaire international a été prompt à répondre aux cris de détresse des populations. Non seulement il a prend en charge les soins de tous les blessés, mais aussi il a fourni un appui matériel et humain dans l’inhumation des personnes tuées.

DEATHS, INJURIES AND DISPLACEMENT IN THE POPULATION

In the night of Friday the 6th to Saturday the 7th June 2014, populations of the province of Mutarule, grouped Luberizi in the Chefferie of the Plain of the Ruzizi, territory of Uvira in the province of Sud-Kivu have been victims to a recent massacre by armed men. The provisional death toll this Saturday at 8am was at around 33 people dead, including military and 29 injured. Among the dead are four girls, one is one month old, four boys, 17 women and eight men. Within the injured are 23 women. The majority of the victims had been burned, beaten or injured in their homes, in the local Church of the eighth Community of Churches of Pentecote in Central Africa (CEPAC) or when they were trying to run away from an attack.

The wounded, transported at first by their relatives and other good Samaritans to the General and Centre Hospitals in of Sange, and were then driven to Uvira by the International Committee of the Red Cross (Comité International de la Croix Rouge, CICR) for appropriate care at the local General Hospital. The ten most severe cases were transferred to the General Provincial Hospital in Bukavu. This international humanitarian organism has been prompted to respond to distressed populations. Not only have they taken care of the wounded, but also they have provided humane and military support for the burial for those killed.
