In our city of Goma, many women are not interested in the internet or computer technology. The few women that are on the internet are only on Facebook, and they only log on to post photos and to talk about trivial things with their friends. They don’t know that on Facebook, they can talk about their problems and find solutions using the support of other women around the world. And the majority of women in Goma aren’t used to commenting on interesting publications by other internet users. To try and help the women of this volcanic city be autonomous and to meet other women around the world, a training session was organized with this aim, under the theme: “Empowering Women through the Use of the Internet and Social Media”. For two days, participants from various organizations were truly equipped with the knowledge of the latest information and communication technologies. Following said training, the women who had a sense of the internet were introduced to World Pulse so as to put them into contact with other women worldwide. It also allowed these women to use these new communication technologies and to familiarize themselves with the internet as a tool.
