What I see in the Dance

I was watching the little video of the dance and wondered what others saw when they watched it so decided to write what I see and think of it.

First, the costumes are more like a ballerina wearing a tutu while on stage, that sort of thing but it does show a bit of what traditional clothing would look like. The hats the males wear are so cool and I want one for myself. I think my daughters would not be seen with me if I wore it in public though! They are designed for being on the ocean and keeping the glare and spray out of your eyes I believe (and to attract woman I guess who would come up and say \"Hey, can I try on your hat?\") The other hats, the sort of blackish ones look like Russian influence to me but cute all the same not sure what they mean though..

The woman's headdress is also cool and I have one like that but in simple black beads but it is kind of tight and gives me a headache if I wear it for very long so am always hoping I have the money when I see them around next! I keep meaning to get a picture of myself in it but always forget...

The drums are most likely seal skin over a bone frame since there are not many trees on the islands due to the harsh climate.

I love how free and energetic the woman dancing center stage is. How her moves show her sensual nature but in a more natural way then Westerners are used to. How being in tune and touch with her body shows a lack of shame which is great if we can bring back that feeling again! She is very \"look at me\" but in a friendly flirty way rather then making the other woman feel like 'Huh, is my man watching her?' Sort of creates the feeling she is all woman or something like that...

The beat kind of catches you and draws you in, don't you think? And is it called tempo when it changes to show a new feeling emerging?

Then the men sort of form a line in front, doing their drumming, while the woman sway behind them and you know they are probably checking out the guys' backsides slyly! The men turning to face the woman and the cute little smooching behind the drums is playful and shows a healthy type of relationship. Then the woman begin their dancing again, that sort of \"las Vegas\" shoulder thing going on...

Then not quite sure what to make of the around and around thing, maybe to create energy in the crowd?

I liked it a lot since it shows a healthy and happy and free of 'hang ups' culture to me. What did you think of it?
