About Me
I was born on a certain Thursday the 18th of January 1979 and I was later told that my father who had been hoping to have a Son this time around (since their first child was a girl), just resolved to treat me like one. I was the kind you will call a ‘jolly’ kid and have grown up to a be a Merry Marie. My alias or nickname “Ayo” is kind of an exclamation like ‘Oh my God’. The Douala people use it in their dialect to dramatize or exclaim, it means 'Soft' in my dialect, and "Joy" in a Nigerian dialect.
I am founder of Hope for the Abused and Battered Cameroon. I am a survivor of Domestic abuse in several forms but I refuse to wallow in any pity. We offer, psychological, legal and holistic counselling.
I have been diagnosed with PTSD and RA but those don’t define me – hence I stigmatize stigma by sharing the good, the shaggy and the looney about my thrilling life. I wish to one day open a center called 'The Love Zone'. One where only love and empathy reign, no abuse or stigma.
