I have extensive background in serving as a capacity-builder, grant-maker and facilitator of community-building/coalition-building. My experiences vary from founding, implementing, and evaluating the Nthabiseng Project, Irie Project and Khelera Sikou Project, sustainable programs for children and youth that used the creative arts to focus on the intervention and prevention of violence in Diepsloot Informal Settlement, South Africa, Jamaica and Nepal to supporting programs in a grant-maker capacity in the post-disaster Gulf Coast Hurricane Katrina and Rita to a grant reporter in the post-war Beirut, Lebanon.
I am currently teaching at Portland State University, Portland, Oregon in the Department of Social Work/Child and Family Department () . Courses are: Families and Society and Community Resources and Family Support. I also have a website .
I am currently in the Educational Leadership program at PSU and will have an Ed.D. in the Spring of 2017. I have a Masters of Art in Art Therapy (MAAT) from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and post-graduate work at University of London: Goldsmith College in their Postgraduate Diploma in Art Psychotherapy. I have a BS in Graphic Design, Child & Family Studies, Arts & Letters, Social Sciences with a minor in Psychology from Portland State University. I am committed in building sustainable programs and partnerships that advance inclusiveness, diversity and accessibility to all children and their families.
My interest is building programs that empower, nurture resilience and support young people, specifically young women to have a voice in their life, in their community and in the world. I believe that every young person by their very birthright is entitled to have their voice heard, seen and valued.
