Introducing myself and my journal: My Life in Egypt

About Me:
I'm a 54 year old American woman living in Cairo, Egypt. I came to this part of the world a year ago because after a year of unemployment in the US, I faced homelessness as a reality and decided I would rather live in the Muslim world as a Muslim woman. I first went to Jordan and volunteered at a small NGO there, where I blogged, raised money and taught English to Iraqi refugees. I left after three months and came to Egypt, first to Alexandria and then to Cairo. I teach English skills to adults and hope to spend the rest of my life here. I am quite happy to be living in post-revolution Egypt although the economic instability is hard on us all. I've been given a lot of help and friendship from the Egyptians in spite of this, and I have learned great lessons on patience and faith that I hope to write more about.
