She is a victim

Focusing on African polygamy, I realise the experience in it victimizes the women involved. Frankly this is the highest institution, unit of the society or simply environment which breeds and promote gender based violence.
In this situation the woman and the girl suffer a lot of vices. Because you are a woman, you can't share your view, feeling or make any decision probably for fear of being considered to be failure. Women by the standards of the community are not to be heard and must obey the head of the family. Moreover giving the meager resources of such a family, the girl has no right to education because it is believed she is merchandise by virtue of her sex.
In addition, an ideology of life is established making believe that life is a play in which the female folk have to be passive and endure. This in my opinion serve as a justification for the fact that many of the women in such communities react in the following ways.
Some of them have accepted this masculine dominance over them as their fate. As a result, they just endure saying am in this marriage because of the children. Whoa, does it mean God created women of my community just for endurance? Most of them die out of depression.
Another group is the "enlightened" women. They have realised it's not normal for men to maltreat them but are afraid to react because they fear divorce or be accused of betraying their husbands which is a taboo. This group constitutes a large number.
The last group are those who are empowered and believe staying single is the solution to all these problems. They now become single parents which is considered in our community a taboo.
I feeling very bad because the community has failed to see in all of the categories stated above the women are victims. What a powerful ideological influence men have on women? In their lives or out of their lives, women still suffer.
Why should the person who supports the family, brings up children, protects and advises be victimized. I believe a crusade on making these men bare the consequences of their actions is the next step on empowering the women of my community.
