no to breast ironing

Girls of the Every girl Any girl club of GBHS Bawock had a busy day working on issues on breast ironing within Bali subdivision. Given the fact that these girls come from different quarters with this community a vivid picture of the situation of this violence against girls could be investigated.
After getting the gist of the work done by the NGO Gender Danger within some communities around, I decided to work with the girls on breast ironing as our topic for the week.
Getting some write ups from this NGO, we read and understood what breast ironing is all about. When it was time for sharing I realise all the girls were victims in someway. Majority of the girls are living with their grandmothers who believe breast ironing is the best way to safeguard the girl from unwanted pregnancy, prostitution and many more. Some of the girls were victims who suffered that act at ages of 10-11 years. In short those who were free from it were girls whose parents were educated on the issue.
The best thing we agreed on was to make a list of victims during our next club meeting and report on to our partner Gender Danger.
