When the excitement of courtship is gone Together with the shyness and uncertainty When security settles in Shifting the boundaries And kindness subsides Ceding to hostility While familiarity creeps in Ushering contempt And arrogance arises Expelling humility Together with respect Making space for antagonism Threatening confidence Assaulting peace of mind And ravaging happiness Then this relationship Has ceased to be worthwhile For I too, deserve to be happy If we cannot be happy together Then it's time to for one of us to leave Since I cannot rise to your level of abuse I’ll simply bid you farewell.
