I stood among Giants

Today I stood among Giants
Today I dined with Giants
Today I learnt from the Giants
Today I cried with the Giants
Today I laughed and danced with the Giants
Today I am humbled by the Giants

They came in different sizes
Talked about their crisis
They shared with us their choices
They agreed to make the right choices
But they are agreed on one thing
To stay positive about being HIV positive

They gave us a glimpse of their lives
Using the unforgiving lens
They took the emotions from their hearts
And turned them into images
Images of hope
Images of love
Images of peace
Images of fun
Images of Joy
Images that have decided to stay positive
about being HIV positive

The images captured their stories
The images captured their conquests
The images captured their victory
The images captured their strength
The images captured their might
The might of a fighting giant

They have over come the fear
The fear of stigma
The fear associated with being HIV positive
The fear of isolation
The fear of a human beings cruelty
The fear of an uncertain tomorrow
The fear of the unknown.

They all had one theme
The theme of a giant
A giant who has decided to fight

A giant who has decided

As I quietly sat their
I watched them in admiration
I watched them in adoration
I watched them with determination
I watched them without condemnation
I watched them with a confirmation
That indeed Oh yes indeed!
One can be positive about being HIV positive!
