About Me: I am a full time writer and a social activist with a deep interest in issues regarding women. A post graduate in English Literature from Delhi University, I began my career in advertising as a copy writer and went on to become the Creative Director. I have written a book on career counseling (published by Vision Books) film scripts and several papers on women’s rights for newspapers, compilations and the UN system and have presented many papers on both national and international forums. I have also been writing spiritual features. I write both prose and poetry. My poems have been transformed into dances, thus creating a fusion of literary expressions with the performing arts. Many of my poems are gender based and have been sponsored by the UNIFEM and UNFPA as dance presentations. I have recently completed an anthology of poems inspired by both the beauty and tragedy of Kashmir. As a social activist I have worked extensively with the militancy affected women and children of Kashmir. Having traveled extensively and interacted with people across all walks of life in Kashmir,I hope I have a deep insight into the irrevocable impact of armed conflict on the common man. My focus of work is mainly the underprivileged women, particularly widows and single women, since in a patriarchal society they suffer multiple marginalization My other interests include traveling, cooking, and spirituality (not necessarily in this order) I am married to a corporate finance professional and live in Delhi with my husband and daughter.

My Passions: My commitment to the cause of women which finds expression in my writing

My Challenges: To network, to use the system to ensure that even the most vunerable can have access to the resources to live a life of dignity

My Vision for the Future: Women can recognise and channelize the tremendous resilience and survival strength for the benefit of humankind

My Areas of Expertise: I think, write and speak well with commitment and passion.

Hello from World Pulse, Meera.

You have reached out to World Pulse, and we are grateful for your presence.

I act as a volunteer World Pulse welcomer for new WP members and listener for other journal entries. This is some of the most exciting and rewarding work I've ever done. Through this effort, I have become a world volunteer.

I am wondering whether you have found any World Pulse efforts that really stir you to action. Our searchable site has so many examples of females empowering each other through education and encouragement, that there is certain to have inspiration for all.

We'd love to hear from you again.
