Introducing myself and my journal: Lending Promise

About Me:
I founded Lending Promise in 2006 inspired my daughter, Victoria. When she was four, she said that she wanted to be "a doctor, a ballerina and the queen of Asia." Those are ambitious dreams. It occurred to me that half of the world's children can't dream like that because they aren't aware of the world's possibilities. To help them dream the way Victoria does, I'm helping their mothers, through microcredit.

I give small loans to poor Nepalese and Indian women to form small businesses. I also give them literacy and small business training support to ensure that their businesses are a success. With their business income, they're able to afford enough food for their children and to send them to school. And education changes everything -- not only for those children but for their entire villages and ultimately, economies.
