I'm a 30-something certified nurse midwife at a freestanding birth center. I hold the firm belief that pregnancy, birth, and well woman care is a powerful experience for women that facilitates new beginnings, growth, learning, and empowerment through the process. In the meantime, I've learned to become an good listener and enjoyed the daily education these interactions provides. Good care is a collaborative process through which learning is a two way street. Having given birth to my baby girl recently, I feel like relationship to the birthing processes has been flipped on its head with all the new empathy I have found. I'm loving this new role and outlook!
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends and where possible combining these with travel, being outdoors, eating good food, or cycling. I'm a ravenous DIYer and love to make things with my hands. I wish I had more time for pleasure reading...but I manage to squeeze in a few good fiction reads a year! women's health, world peace, my family, my friends, good local foods, staying active, crafts, and traveling. reigning in my realism and letting my optimism rule in this crazy world of ours women's health, midwifery
