Body Strong

I went for a long run yesterday at about 8:30 a.m. The morning air was cool and I took advantage of that special time of day when the neighborhoods are still and the cars are few. Headphones, sneakers and sunglasses on, I found my pace and rhythm of breathing. I felt light and easy. No side cramps. No knee aches. It was exactly the way I wanted to spend the first hours of my 30th birthday. One morning driver yelled out his window, \"good pace! Keep it up!\" That made me run faster and I felt like those words set off springs inside of my shoes!
After my run, I felt that familiar exhilaration, that runner's high. My body was glistening with sweat and my muscles felt loose and full of freshly pumped blood. Fresh oxygen flooded my brain and thoughts. Any aggression I had inside was channeled down into the earth with each step.
I want to keep my body, my temple, the home of my spirit---I want to keep it strong and healthy for the next 30 years. And the next 30 after that.
