A SEARCH FOR SIGNIFICANCE

My life changed when I became a mother while still in school. I grew up in upcountry as a normal shy girl and I was always a number one student. My parents had high hopes in my studies and my having a baby at a such a time was a big let down for them. I think it was the grace of God that they managed to take me back to school; life was never the same again for them, especially my mother and also for me. I became weak in school my concentration was so much affected despite the fact that I was in a boarding.
Years later I faced rejection both at home and from friends and relatives and even the father of my two sons.it was not an easy road,I remember being sent away from home by my father. No one, including my mother was allowed to come and see me or help me,and when I finally got a job, I could not brag about it because i was not fully independent like my culture would want me to be.
Many times I asked God why I had to go through so much in my life.It pained me to see my mother depressed because of me.And two years ago I realized that God brings hundreds of tiny steps together to pull you through, challenges are always there for us,so that we can get an opportunity to give someone an open ear,no one gave me an open ear, instead i got a lot of critism I have been alone and most of the time i have always found it difficult to open up. The experience of powerlessness created in me a new direction, Last year when my colleagues were busy going back to college as demanded by the management; I decide that I would want to do something totally different from what i do at my place of work,i desired to take studies related to the community development and social work, I need skills to empower, discuss and exchange best practices for advancing my own empowerment, improving the situations I find myself in and to enabling me to be active agents for empowerment
It’s a desire that has not taken off due to unavoidable reason, but then I thought why not try the internet. The internet has sped the flow of information in real time. One can acquire skills and capabilities and have access to new technologies to empower themselves and contribute to their society i then started searching for online scholarship. The search led me to World Pulse and this is why iam here,as a candidate for Web2.0.Its my desire to be mentored and become a voice for others who are hurting. My passion for change is real and i believe that i will be of benefit to my community ,where my own mother never stops to remind me about how my future woulld have been brighter.
