I am Monruedee Laphimon. You can call me "Pat" for short. I was born with a Thai-Malay father who passed away beginning 2010 because of leukemia, and a Thai-Laos mother who tirelessly provides me all kind of support, and is my guiding star!
I am a bisexual woman, and a single mother of a 17-year-old girl: a daughter of my youngest brother whom has been adopted since the age of two.
I began my social work related career by joining a mother-and-child health care program of the Consortium at the Indo-Chinese Refugee Camp in Panusnikom, Chonburi Province in 1992. Since then I have involved in various types of volunteerism, social actions, and research activities associated with women's health, HIV/AIDS, genders and sexualities.
In 1996, I co-founded a local NGO called MAP Foundation (registered Foundation under Thai law; known in Thai as "Foundation for the Health and Knowledge of Ethnic Labour") which is based in Chiangmai. I have engaged in social actions, volunteerism, and research activities related to HIV/AIDS, Violence Against Women (VAW), Genders and Sexualities. In late 2003, I co-founded a Thai Women & HIV/AIDS Task Force which is a national network of women living with HIV, and female HIV/AIDS activists to bring issues of women, genders, sexualities, sexual & reproductive health to the forefront of HIV/AIDS agenda in Thailand.
So I am a social activist, a community researcher, a writer, a trainer, a world explorer, and many more... writing, reading, traveling, community mobilizing, gardening, sculture, music, & wholistic medicine deconstructionism of heteronormativity, sexual & reproductive rights genders and sexualities in hiv/aids and sexual and reproductive health
