Empowering women through the internet

The issue of empowering women has been a great concern for the world. It is no surprise that the Millennium Development Goal number 3 states \"To promote gender equality and empower women\" . My question is can the internet accelerate this goal?

In 2012 I came across a video on YouTube, it was about making paper beads and jewelry design.I made a few as gifts for family and friends.Later I made a lot and put it in a box, one day my brother came for the jewelry to show it to my neighbors and they bought everything. With no intention of starting a business demand for my jewelry was increasing, so I decided to start a business. Before starting my business I said to myself I'll create a YouTube channel to empower other people.

Today My YouTube channel called Moshelbeads which is also my company name has over 36,000 views and still growing.I often receive emails from the channel viewers that my videos have empowered them.I'm in Africa(Ghana) and through the internet my videos are empowering people around the world. Moshelbeads YouTube channel demographics shows that
14% male and 86% female watch the channel. Top locations by view are United states,Brazil and Armenia respectively.

The internet can accelerate Millennium Development Goal 3(to promote gender equality and empower women). I believe that awareness should be created to encourage more women to seek empowerment on the internet. The internet has made me an entrepreneur who is making a social impact. It is my vision to train a lot of women in deprived communities in Ghana to reduce poverty. The world is a global village because of the internet, many women should take advantage of this to empower themselves. Whatever your passion is it can be found on the internet.Who knows maybe your next big business is somewhere on the internet.

Today your are reading my story because of the internet. The internet is a powerful tool that can empower many women around the world.
