My first fiction writing ever



A man is known by the company he keeps
Rupnagar, a small village, which is situated at the bank of the river Rupsha. Rupnagar is full of natural beauty such as everywhere green fields and yellow farm lands. Also people of the village are very simple and peaceful. Most of them are plain farmers. At the one corner of this village, a widow mother lives with her only one son in thread house. In front of the house there is little land where she cultivates vegetables and keeps her ducks and hens by making farm. The name of the widow is Fatima Begum who lost her husband at early age, after 2 years of their marriage. She got married at the age of 17 when she was in class 9. She lost her husband at the age of 19 when she was pregnant for 1.5 months. That loss was very shocking for her. After eight months she gave birth a son-child named Rihab. Now Rihab is 20 years old but separated from his mother. Now, 40years old Fatima is paralyzed who lives in her remote sister’s house.
After birth of Rihab, the widow didn’t get 2nd married. She owns self prestige although she is a little educated woman. In addition she was self dependent woman. She raised poultry and goats in her farmyard. Also she worked as a tailor. By doing those things somehow Fatima and her son lead their life. At the age of 5, Fatima sent her son in the village school. From the primary school, Rihab did very well in his exam. He always became first in his class. Teachers also loved him very much. Besides he was very gentle and quiet boy. He respected the elders and loved younger and peers. In class 5 and class 8, he got government primary and junior scholarship. By seeing his result, his mother got inspirations and tried heart and soul to continue his further studying. In class Nine Rihab chose science section for studying. He also got A+ in his S.S.C (Secondary School Certificate) exam. His mother dreamt that her son will be an agriculturist. He will help the poor farmers to improve the condition of agriculture. For this reason, she sent her son to the nearby town, Nimtali for standard studying.
Rihab went and admitted in District College. First three months he did very well in the class. Rihab was plainer than the other boys in his class because it was his first time to be in town. Subsequently, he couldn’t understand the environment of the town and its people. For this reason he became closer with four wicked boys who were used to smoke and hijack. Their names were Bob, Tony, Titu and Nitu. First Rihab couldn’t realized their behavior. Steadily he became closer to those boys and they persuaded him to smoke. They told him to take cigarette. They also told him that it is very taste and all young boys take it for pleasure. Also they convinced him that you could taste it one time, if you felt dull then you could leave it. Hence he sucked it. After sucking once, he left it. Second day they again requested him and pushed the burned cigarette into his mouth. Slowly but surely, he addicted to cigarette, tobacco, heroin, and finally drug within 9 months after coming to town. Furthermore, failure was appeared in his studying. He engaged in hijacking to afford money for smoking. He also expanded his money that his mother sent him for tution fee. However, that little money wasn’t enough for him. Therefore, he engaged in crime. Everything such taking drug, cigarette and hijacking he committed in the town was unknown to his mother.
One dark night! Rihab had no money but he became crazy about drug. He shouted, “Give me money”, “Give me drug”. Then he ran to his friends and asked for drug but they told they didn’t have drug. Afterward they proposed him to go out and hijack. Rihab and his four friends went hijacking. The place where they went hijacking was highly secured by police. When they stopped a service holder to take money, abruptly police came to the spot. Police whistled and told” Hold,” Don’t move”. However, they began running so police shoot them. Unfortunately Rihab got injure in his leg so he couldn’t escape but everyone else escaped. Eventually he was arrested by the police inspector. The inspector took him to the central jail. At the time of his judgment, he told those boys name but nothing was happen to them because they were the children of rich person. According to the teenage crime law he got three years labour-penalty because at time he was nineteen. When his mother heard this news, she shocked mentally. Due to her mental shock, she also hurt physically and became paralyzed. Also she became helpless and her remote sister took her in her house. Now Fatima is living in their house like a burden. On the other hand, Rihab is bounded in the four wall of jail about 1 year. He always feels remorse for his great mistakes. In the jail he always remembers his past happy and successful days and his mother. In jail his only friend is his memories and crying. Now he has understood that bad company can turn people from heaven to hell. And his bad company has turned him from college to jail. Besides he comprehended that bad company could demolish the golden dream of young people and destroy the hope of life or a happy family. It can also destroy the little hope of widow mother and her life. In the jail he always remembers one of his teachers saying, “A man is known by the company he keeps.” Thus everyone be careful about choosing friends.
