Plant a tree today

As we are processing to establish our projects in the villages, we are doing the ground work in Addis Ababa. It's not simple to launch a business, NGO, or any kind of organization in Ethiopia. YOu have to go up an down to show or to make others believe what you are up to.

I'm working with Hamlin Rehab, Bole Park, Mekedonia a home for Mentally challenged and elderly people, and Cholea Village seed bombing and tree planting.

We did Seed bombing in CMC , a compound with 500 apartments where celebrities, diplomates and some Gov ministers are staying. We did a great campaign in removing plastic bottles and bags. I supplied them calico shopping bags last Saturday.

We are trying to make model sub-cities then others will follow us. Our Peace and green Team is working harder to bring people together and care for the community and the environment.

We planned four major tree planting from 19th may'18-28thjul'18 in different part of the city of Addis Ababa and in two villages.

How many people have you impacted since your last update?

Wow this is incredible! Great work!! I live in Washington, D.C. in the U.S. and the city government passed a law that any store that sells food must charge customers $0.05 for each plastic bag as a way to reduce the pollution in our streams and rivers. I have noticed a big difference since then - but it's still not enough. We've had heavy rains for the last few days and yesterday in the 20 minutes I was waiting for the bus I spotted at least 10 plastic bottles pour down the street and into the gutters. The city is working hard to reduce the pollution but even with these resources and technology we have too much plastic everywhere!!! Thank you for all you are doing to beautify Addis Ababa! Big hugs from this corner of the world.

Dear Dawn,

Thank you for your appreciation to my work...and our team work indeed. This plastic things are polluting the world, killing the beautiful sea birds. It's worldwide problem. I like the charge of your gov ...I wish we bring it here and apply it.

last October, I visited Nairobi. All supmkts banned plastic bags, people are using other shopping bags made from cotton and other materials. A person who is found carrying plastic bag, will be caught and be taken to Police station...then to the court.

i liked it.

Thank you dear.

Lily,

Hi Lily Habesha.

It's never easy to establish an NGO or any kind of organization at all. It takes a lot of grit and grind. Focus on where you're going, and you'll get there soon enough. The joy is also in the journey, not just in the arrival at the expected destination. enjoy every moment and glean from every experience. Often one of the best ways to start is to work with an already established NGO, just like you're doing.

You're already doing a great job! Give yourself a pat on the back! Please let us know how it goes and keep us updated on your progress. I hope you are encouraged by this?

Yes Queen,

nothing is easy these days. We better do it our own way and as much as we can do. I heard people got some donors, and their donors had hidden agenda, and that hidden agenda destroyed the visionary woman.

Keep it neat and clean.

Thank you for your time to read and comment.

Oh my dear, I've heard those stories too! Donors or sponsors hijacking a project, and you can hardly say anything in protest of their actions. There's so much that a visionary has to guard against, especially if that visionary is a woman. Keep your head up, girl. You got this! Waiting for your next update. Much love.

Dear Queesn,

I wish it was only hijacking your idea and getting away with it.

Some are mentally, physically abused.

Which is very sad.

Hello Lily,

I face similar difficulty when trying to do small projects in my city, even in my small village. I am happy you're pushing on with your projects despite it.

Good luck with your tree planting activities and other endeavors. I am sure you will impact more people in the future especially when everybody starts to pitch in.

Cheers

Hi Lily, wow! I applaud you, your mission is great ; working with the mentally challenged and elderly people is tasking coupled with the tree planting. I will encourage you to keep at it as the reward for your labour will not elude you in Jesus name.
