Freedom is..... (By Carnia Adams, age 12 years old)

Freedom is the right to speak
Freedom is not being weak
Freedom is being happy
And sometimes, awfully snappy
Freedom is when you’re allowed to look behind the scenes
Freedom is when you feel free

Freedom is not feeling trapped
But Freedom is jumping off the racks
Freedom is having a choice
And Freedom is being allowed to use your voice
But sadly Freedom doesn’t come free
We have to pay a fee
We pay with our lives
And we sell our hope to experiences

People fought with everything they had
They still do, and people they love feel sad

Freedom is a need
You need it to succeed
The ones, who have it, take advantage of it
But when they lose it, they look stupid

Freedom can be an empty promise
But Freedom can be honest
The people who fought for Freedom to make us free
I often wonder how happy they would be.
