I HAVE A DREAM

I HAVE A DREAM

Every time I watch a music video or a live artiste perform, I am always mesmerized. The message in their songs always leaves a lasting impression. A while back, I was obsessed with singing. I know for sure I cannot sing yet I prayed each day that I would wake up with a melodious voice and belch up some lyrics. Well, the prayer was never answered and for a good reason.
According to me then, singing would make people listen. I have realized that I can still use my voice in other ways and deliver the message.
My voice is my power, my number one asset. I remember the first day I stood in front of a large gathering to do a power point presentation. It was the best moment of my life. The silent that prevailed during the presentation and the cheers that ensued after I was done with the presentation left a big mark in my life.
Many are the times I have yearned of such platforms that will articulate my voice without any discrimination. Where what I have to say will at least be heard before judgment can be passed. I have published a few articles on women but still I felt that it is inadequate. I have done volunteer work and I am still doing it but I still feel that it is not sufficient.
I grab every opportunity that comes my way with all that I got. When a friend of mine forwarded a link about the voices of our future, I was so delighted. This was my highest high and immediately I signed up. There is nothing as profound as when you speak and someone listens, when you write and people post comments to your story! Voices of our future is such a forum.
Through Voices of our Future my inspirational stories will be read and create an impact. One of my goals in life is to be a motivational speaker. I love talking to people and uplifting them. In many graduation ceremonies, I am always called upon to share a few words with the graduands.I feel fulfilled when they later call on me and say that i stirred something in them.
Alternatively, when I visit children’s home and the eyes of the little ones light up when I share a story with them. The smile on their little faces makes me go for that charity work again. I do not want to be yet another statistic of someone who came, saw and conquered nothing!
Voices of our future has allowed me to ‘Take the first step in faith though I can’t see the whole stair case, I have chosen to take the first step.’
This voice of mine will be the brightest star of all. It will inspire the hopeless; it will awaken the giants in women and aid them in pursuing their dreams. Through Voices of our Future my dream of becoming a motivational speaker is being actualized.
