Happy International Women's Day!

Salaam Alaikum/Peace be upon you to all of our beloved Mothers (blood and adopted) who have passed on and those who exist in this temporal reality, as well as to our beloved foremothers, step Mothers, God mothers, Aunts, sisters, neices, female cousins, female friends, sisters from our faith traditions, sisters in life, and any other pertinent females I have failed to mention. 

A lot of progress has been made but in many ways I feel women are worse off than their foremothers. So much talk concerning women is about women's empowerment. In my opinion, the focus should be more about women doing what we were created to do and men doing what they were created to do. Instead of focusing primarily on empowering women, why not remind men of who they are?; who they were designed to be. Why not encourage men? Why not let them know that we need them to help us by using their gifts and God-given abilities to do right by us, to do right by their women folk in their lives? Why not let them know that we trust their desire and we trust that they can and will fulfill their God-given responsibilities which include their responsibilities to be the providers and protectors of their women folk on all levels. Why not support men and communicate our confidence in them to step up to the plate and hit a home run?
