Just Two Weeks Away!

I can’t believe it’s already September 3rd. In just two weeks we are arriving in New York City to begin the World Pulse Live U.S. Tour. But because of World Pulse, my U.S. Tour actually began August 5th, with Mobility International’s Women’s Institute on Leadership and Disability (WILD) program, in Eugene Oregon. World Pulse had posted this leadership conference for women with disabilities on Pulsewire back in February. I was one of over 400 applicants from around the world, and became one of 30 selected to participate. And it was a phenomenal, illuminating and empowering experience that has equipped me to continue to promote efforts in Congo to include women and girls with disabilities in mainstream society.

Now I am in Santa Fe, New Mexico, hosted by World Pulse partner Cynthia Jurs of Alliance for the Earth. I am being introduced to internationally connected women leaders and informing them of our initiatives and efforts to bring about the change in Congo we have envisioned, which change we expect to be effected by enlightening and empowering the women of our country.

In just a few days, World Pulse’s Global Campaign to End Violence Against Women begins. But in Congo, we began preparing to join this Global Campaign the first of July. And over the last two months, we were able to connect a core of over 120 previously unconnected Congolese women leaders. We got these powerful women online, got them email addresses and introduced them to Pulsewire, and then taught them how to write a Frontline Journal. Your Congolese sisters are now ready to join you this month in this Global Campaign to End Violence Against Women.

I was so blessed when after the disabled women’s leadership conference in Oregon, I was able to spend a day at World Pulse headquarters before heading to New Mexico. It was so wonderful to finally meet our blessed World Pulse team champions. Every single one of them are truly All That and more! And now I am so excited to meet Hummingbird and Stella in New York City just two weeks from today!

But then the real butterflies begin to flutter in my stomach. World Pulse has lined up some over-the-top forums for us to meet and present our stories and offer our ideas for realizing the world we are all so focused on creating. Will I be able to compellingly convey the message to the decision makers and decision influencers, gain their interest, and get their commitments to get behind our vision? For while I am only one of You, I am One with You, and I want that to come across so that when they hear my voice, they are hearing the echo of the thousands with whom I’m in solidarity.

Pray for me my sisters! For I will feel I have succeeded if when they hear me, they realize they are hearing the united, determined voice of the thousands and thousands of Us.

Sincerely YOURS,

Neema
