Balance of freedom and control

As soon as I recovered from acute abdomen pain I was hungry of checking and sending mails and my enthusiasm took my weak steps to find an internet center near around . The most access centers were not open yet and I walked further . Finally I found one open and felt glad . But I felt very frustrated when she asked me my user name and pass word and had a row with her and left there. It was so painful for me that my recovery was turn to bad again and couldn't sit somewhere else on that day. Actually it was not the only one constraint for me and I have been facing with other obstacles during the accesses .
I am a pro-internet for my social , educational , collaborative and professional development .I started opening my gmail account five years after the establishment of internet access here. The Internet in Burma has been available since 2000 . However, the access has been limited and controlled through software-based censorship, infrastructure and technical constraints, and laws and regulations with large fines and lengthy prison sentences for violators. The government also charges high prices to connect to the Internet, many people cannot afford to pay for this .For me I have been using internet at the internet cafe with hourly charges and . have been struggling with these signals during the access : ,
' The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded.'
' problem loading page '
' access has been denied '
' You have requested an encrypted page that contains some unencrypted information. Information that you see or enter on this page could easily be read by a third party.'
With these constraints I have been getting stress for submitting my assignment on time.I missed talking with World Pulse team through skype during my Voice of Our Future journalism training . I also felt frustrated when I faced with the very tricky situation to choose one of the options to click for submitting my writing because they were in Chinese which I don't understand at all and I had to discard my two hours writing and it also emptied my happiness on finishing it.
My sister from a refugee camp took her young children to the internet access center passing through a strong brook in heavy rain to talk with me and her eldest daughter here . But the connection cut our contact sometimes and we sadly left with missing each side .
When I think about internet access it is a huge assistance . It is a tool of marvelous media for global assistance , global campaign and globalization. It helped our million of Nargis cyclone victims receive tremendous international assistance . Millions of world people signed the petitions for global campaigns and gained many victories. Vedio conferences have been effective ly advantaged .
One thing I am thinking is the access control. Which policy give our adequate freedom of access for personal , organizational and global development ? Which policy can take action for online crimes and online abuses ? How can we measure to respect someone’s privacy ? Is the expression of someone's security can be a reminder for better change for oneself or community ? Or is it insulting and threatening their security? After we balance these things , the ethic and freedom of internet access beautifully identified.

In a time when freedom of expression and equal access to knowledge and ideas has become synonymous with access to the Internet, World Pulse is asking women worldwide: What does "Universal Internet Access and Digital Freedom" mean to YOU? This month, we invite you to raise your voice by writing about the everyday obstacles you face and risks you take in accessing the Internet, or how you have used it to change lives and bring about positive change in your community.
