Information and Web 2.0

I would say the first thing that really strikes me about web2.0 is the fact that information is no more going to be flowing from one source and accessibility. When I say by information will not be flowing in one source what I meant by is what we are use to normally is a traditional media sources and we rarely know it contain all sides of the stories and their coverage could also come under a question. However, with Web 2.0, we could actually have so many sources of information and we know that in the world of today where by information is a power the there could be minimal manipulation of realities in various communities at various levels.

Accessibility is the other important aspect to it, if information is not accessible to the people at every level there is no use of it having, there has to be wide coverage and accessibility to these important messages.
I think this is one of the best ways of disseminating information, raising awareness, enhancing networking and stand for a common cause. Web 2.0 helps achieve these goals immensely. I believe firmly that this could even empower the women in helping them create a platform to share their stories and ideas to take it to the next level.

As a youth activist, I always find exposure to information and knowledge is core of the problem in advancing women as well as youth development in my country. If we are not exposed to these information then there will be no way that the people could actually draw their expectations and have visions for their community. It could also block and separates them from the realities of the world as well as their community. Besides, it could also cause misinformation which leads to fear and instability in the Region that is susceptible for violence and instability. Hence it is extremely important to develop the tools and build our capacity to equip ourselves with the skills.
