Economically, women want to know, defend and demand their human and democratic rights. Women are still not politically empowered, the representation of women in parliament to a great extend cause them to be denied platform for other leadership positions and competitive bargains in political arena saying they already have their slot. Although things are clear on paper, women are meant to deputize the concerned position as oppose to taking lead. It is a step in the right direction although men would still want to be the ones in charge while women are their deputies at all levels. Late Canon Mary was the bridge that crossed me over to women empowerment she was very vocal and defended the rights of women in the church. She wanted to see the women taking top leadership in the Anglican Church. She wondered why women cannot be made Bishops in the Anglican church. One thing I remember her with she told me “stand up and be counted nothing good come for free, you must stay focused, but be careful and positive”.

I have tried in different forum to sensitize the community to appreciate the role of women in development, more specifically in leadership at different levels.
