My assets map

I dream to see a society where women remain healthy during pregnancy and after childbirth to nurture their babies. A Nigeria where every woman and the girl child receive quality and affordable reproductive health care regardless of their economic status or political inclination or tribe. Personally, I dream of being able to influence policies especially those that affect the health of vulnerable women and the girl child and I’m already on that path. Over the years, I have come to understand that leadership is indeed a call to service unlike what I grew up seeing from leaders in my country. As a young lady leading other young girls on issues regarding their reproductive health rights, I have come to realise that my leadership skill is one of the greatest skills I have that I’m most proud of. For indeed, leadership has nothing to do with where or how you were born or even your physical strength or stature but on how you inspire and motivate others, solve and analyse problems, communicate clearly with people, build relationships, how trustworthy and accountable you are to yourself and the people you lead and a host of others. I have managed projects within and outside my country with high level successes which makes my project management skills one that I’m also proud of. I’m currently using these skills as I create awareness to rural women through my Maish save a mother’s life project. As I walk through my community and see the girl child walk to school, I see another future mother whose life will be better because of the work I’m doing now. Indeed, we can bridge the gap between what women and young girls know now about their reproductive health and the services they get from health facilities. My home is actually my haven. For it is where I sit to think and plan for the ones I love. I learnt very early in life to sit at the feet of mentors to shorten the road to my dreams for most of them have thread that path I am presently threading and are able to advice. In my life’s journey, I met wonderful women from across the world in the Vital Voices Fellowship who are amazing leaders where I’m currently an alumni. It is these women who I run to for help and advice and who I have formed a bond of sisterhood with to stand up to be a voice for women in my community.
