FILL IN THE GAPS PLEASE

Various drama unfolding in our nation today and the redundant minutes of my life afforded me the opportunity to engage in what I love doing most.

If the situation of Nigeria is not put under check and scrutiny, there will be a time (but observers are no longer keenly interested) when 100milliom Nigerians will be scattered all over the world searching for solutions to the ever increasing problems. If your neighbour is eating poisonous insects and you refused to caution him, his cough will eventually rub you of your beautiful sleep.

My grandmother was fond of saying "may those years never come alive again", but if were to be alive today I know that she would have changed her saying to; oh those good old days. The present situation in Nigeria calls for another type of prayers entirely, we wish those days can be re-lived, may be if oil was not discovered and only honest Nigerians vie for posts because there will be no oil or its money ti siphoned , unlike Nigeria of today where our politics is filled with dishonest and purposeless men.

There are lots of other people that believed that Nigeria was good during their time, but the irony is that those who felt that Nigeria was bad in the 66's and decided to fight the first civil war would have concluded that they lived in paradise in their time. Those days, ten tubers of yam was 1 dollar, whereas today with your $10 you cannot boast of buying that today, the masses still live below $1 per day.

This is a speech that came before its time. Presently, Nigerians are poor, Americans are rich, most Nigerian masses would give anything to be in America at lest there will be 2 square meals for them, but as poor as Nigerian masses are, will you believe that a Senator in Nigeria is better off than a Senator in America! Can a Nigeria senator live in a 3 bedroom apartment? whereas our children are living on the streets. Nigeria has this money, we are only looking for how to spend our money, now that we have a bunch of thieves on a spending spree, let the music play on.

What is life when a man cannot provide the basic necessities of life; Nigeria cannot provide potable water, constant source of power, good roads, medical facilities, sound education ? ah that is the name of a King, shelter, if a country preaching rebranding, yet forget to realise that a good name is earned, oh how many countries are we going to bribe to accept that Nigeria is good? Taste the soup do not listen to the cook.

What use is our rebranding when our children fled abroad? ther are presently 3, 719 Nigerians awaiting deportation, 3, 123 are serving various jail terms all over the world, 1, 640 are in detention list for varioous offences, on the 26 of August about 60 were deported form USA, 5 of them are female. World citizens an adage says, when your home is good, we detect that in your skin, the Federal Government of Nigeria needs to rebrand the citizens first, what is a nation? is it the infrastructures or the stolen money no! it is the people. if a nation is without its people it is christened a desolation/deserted area.

Nigerians have been christened various names abroad and at home but the mistake is that it is our leaders that you ought to flee from, if someone is appointed to cater for a people and such a caretaker looted the treasure while the people ran from famine and become fugitives, who is to blame?, from Saudi Arabia to USA, it is high time you fled from our leaders, close your banks and shops on them, their wives patronise gold stores in Dubai, for humanity sake, disgrace them, our children are hungry, the poor do not beg for necklace but food to pass through their throats.

The visit of Mrs. Clinton to some former Nigerian heads of state was so annoying to me, but who am I, during Ibrahim Babangida, the military junta and one time head of state that introduced the worst form of bribery and corruption to Nigeria, he was so corrupt that his name should have been corruption. An era that we can truly say may those days never come again, I am sure that if Madam Clinton is aware that he is such a dangerous snake she would not have even sat with him, thank God, the rat that came back safely from the snake.

Come to think of it, when a corrupt leader build schools with stolen money how will he stand in the assembly to address the students about transparency, accountability and patriotism, I now know why they charge exorbitant fees that made only their types enroll their children in those schools. it is only the thief who can trace the foot of a thief on a rock.

The only beautiful thing about yesteryear that I desperately long for is the thunder that searched for stolen item and place those items on the thieves chest after killing them, who drove out those thunders, Nigeria is in need of the thunder that searches for loots after killing the robber.
