WOMEN WORLDWIDE MERRY, WE MOURN

Not less than four hundred women and children were matcheted to death from 3.00a.m on Sunday morning, March 7, 2009, athough few men were not spared but majority of the victims were women and chidlren who supposed to join their counterparts worldwide in celebration of the International Women Day.

On Sunday morning as women all over the world were planning celebration of their day, Nigerians woke up to watch this ugly picture of massacred women and children. Although the ever lying Nigerian Police force pegged the death toll to fifty nine, but they were proved wrong as usual when hundres of bodies were buried en masse.

This unfortuate genocide took place in Dogo and Nahawa not too not far away from Jos, Northern part of Nigeria. This attack was committed against Christians by the Muslim Fulani and Hausa of the region. This is not the first time these women and children experience this type of crisis, but concrete solution has always elude the Nigerian governemnt.

In January 2010, there was another ugly experience in Kuru Karama, Jos that was when the acting president Jonathan promised Nigerian that he would make sure that the culprits are fished out and punished till today, we do not hear about fishing out or net loss in the stream of these violence eruptions;

1,000 people died September 2001;
700 people died in May 2004 in Yelwa in the southern part of Plateau State;
700 people were killed in Jos on November 28 and 29, 2008.

It is so strange that the State Seurity Service do not have any hint of this massacre because, every indication shows that this is a planned attack, that covered two villages and master minded by men who would have taken several days to plan such genocide. The acting Preisdent sacked the Federal Security Adviser and replaced him with the former Adviser that seved during Obasanjo's regime about three years ago.

Nigerians have really lost hope in the govenrment's promise and fail threories and found solace in the supreme God. There is so much ethnic and religious rivalry in Nigeria that one cannot but wonder if seperation can spare Nigerians of untimely death of women and children.
