TRIBUTE TO A "SHERO"- EKITI STATE DEPUTY GOVERNOR - OLUFNMILAYO OLAYINKA



On Saturday April 6, 2013, early in the eVening the new media was awash with the devastating news - Ekiti deputy governor has passed on .
To some of us it was one of those horrible rumours on the internet which we forced ourselves not to believe, but then the reality dawned on us via the official announcement by the Ekiti State Government of Nigeria - The state deputy governor, mrs olufunmilayo adunni olayinka has passed on after a tough but courageous battle with cancer .
This is a great loss to the nation and ekiti state in particular. Of utmost significance it is a monumental loss to Ekiti women.
The late Olayinka was one of the very few women who has made it to the top . She was the second woman to have occupied the exalted position of a deputy governor in ekiti state .
She was an accomplished banker and a corporate sector player who worked in the financial sector for twenty one years before heeding the call of service in her home state of Ekiti.
She was elected to serve on the Action Congress of Nigeria governor ship ticket with Governor Kayode Fayemi in 2007 .
While in office , she demonstrated exemplary courage and dedicated service to the people of ekiti state .
Olufunmilayo Olayinka was a strong woman who had poise and grace. She was an elegant stallion and a fashion icon .
Oh she was an epitome of beauty . A well read woman who good a good command of the English language and a vey good diction.
Olufunmilayo was a woman of many parts, she was a daughter, a wife, a mother, a banker, a politician and a leader .
Ekiti women are mourning the untimely departure of our"SHERO" .
We are mourning the untimely exit of one of our victories over gender inequality.
