MY STORY!!!

I am a young woman who is not from a rich family but in my primary school days, things were averagely okay that I finished quite well. Things changed when I got to secondary school, it was difficult to get money from parents to buy textbooks despite the fact that I did not have to pay school fees because I went to a public secondary school. When I gained admission into the university, things became tougher and my mom struggled to pay my fees when my dad could not. I stumbled through school without enough textbooks or handouts and almost dropped out of school in my second year but got encouraged by female friends who linked me with a University chapel’s welfare department which paid my school fees for the third year and an NGO-AfriGrowth Foundation, which sponsored me in my final year. But before then, I had started trying to make some money for my personal upkeep by making doughnuts for sale. I later got an opportunity to learn how to make bead jewelleries, adding it to my skills. When I got to my final year and saw how difficult it was for me to get money from home because my parents were no longer making enough money for the family’s upkeep, I decided to become financially independent and so was doing little businesses. It was at this junction of my life that I caught the vision of helping people especially young women become financially independent by providing opportunities for them to learn skills like baking, sewing, writing and make-up artistry etc. instead of resolving to prostitution or a compromise of their values and dignity. I later learned how to sew after I wrote my final exams and started making clothes for people. I also made clothes for children in my neighborhood whose parents could not afford to buy new clothes for them during festive periods. I discovered my writing ability and exploited it by writing inspirational books. I have been able to publish one out of the three books written. After publishing my first book, I volunteered to work for the NGO that sponsored me in school. I was putting a book together for them when I met a man who had also worked there as a volunteer. I had a discussion with him about my published book. He later learnt about this online community and told me about it. I have been helped by people, and I also want to help people by meeting their needs financially, emotionally and mentally, also teaching them how to meet their own needs themselves by working on and investing in themselves. This is a journey that would help fulfill my vision because one of my missions is to also work on, develop and invest in myself by learning from others in order to be able to properly reach out to others, which is one of the things that WorldPulse offers.
