New Leaf

I have been making new year's resolutions since I learned how to write- not the alphabet but a simple composition. On top of the list is stop PI. Not Philippine Islands because I love my country no matter what. Not the People's Initiative for charter change which was done for vested political interests. Certainly, not the two letter word that you are thinking of mainly because it is not in my vocabularly (am a Waray) and for the more important reason that am a certified Ina (mother) who loves my Inang Bayan (motherland), values Inang Laya (freedom), dependent on Inang Kalikasan (mother nature). Never mention the P word or hell will break loose. The stop PI on top of my list is procrastination and I (let me keep it to myself). Since the two are still there even if am turning a half century years old in 2011, am not making my new years resolution anymore but rather make an assessment of the year that is about to end by counting my blessings including the blessings in disguise. I also did an inventory of my assets which are mostly kept in my heart and soul and acknowledged my liabilities. Some can be turned into assets anyway.

As am turning on a new leaf from a fulltime NGO worker for twenty (20) fulfilling years at the Runggiyan Social Development Foundation, Inc. to join the ranks of the solopreneur, I searched for tools that would help me build my own business that is integrated into my life goals and passion. Armed with two (2) decades of experience, I have developed a package of training and development services which I can offer to make local governance and resource institutions responsive to women and the marginalized sectors.

Do I have what it takes to be a solopreneur? A social soloprenuer. Here's what I got from using a tool called Personal DNA, a test which will help reveal ones true self. After taking the Personal DNA test composed of 11 pages, the results say that am an "Animated Leader" complete with descriptions of the different dimensions.

A color coded map of the results can be viewed at
My personalDNA Report

Even if you aren't turning on a new leaf like me, the test is still fun and worth taking as a year-ender.

Happy New Year everyone!
